Beware of Costa Del Mar mirror sunglasses and their warranty,
March 22, 2007 Fish for Life (East Coast, USA) - See all my reviews
I own three different models of Costa Del Mar's: "Deep Blue", "Eliminator" and "Fathom". Their mirror sunglasses are terrible.
I had to send them three times in last three years for repairs.
It happens once a year. It's called "delamination" and according to Costa Del Mar's technician it's normal?!!!!
It looks like a honey comb pattern and it's really annoying.
I fish a lot and I bought their glasses because of their lifetime warranty.
Now I have to send them back again, pay $8 shipping fees (for each pair), and additionally they started to charge people $10 handling fee (!) for product (warranty repair) which supposed to be great and free for life. I think it's outrageous.
What's wrong with you!? Why don't you fix your products?
Or maybe this is the way to make a good $.
I'm stuck with three pairs of expensive sunglasses which are getting really expensive now. Shame on you Costa! Stick with your promise and stop charging people your rip off...Read more

Poor material, worst customer service,

This review is from: Costa Del Mar Fathom Polarized Sunglasses - Costa 400 Glass Lens (Eyewear)
These sunglasses work great for about 2 years, and then fall apart soon. The company's "lifetime warranty" is a lie, and they will find every excuse to charge you. There are handling fees, shipping fees and part cost...
After about 2-year of normal use, the part of the sunglasses frame that touches the nose started to delaminate (in the form of small "bubbles" underneath the surface), and the glossy finish started to chip off. I asked a Costa Del Mar salesman about this problem at the Fred Hall fishing show at San Diego. He told me that the plastics Costa Del Mar used their older models was sensitive to sunscreen, and they have fixed the problem by switching to different material. He suggested me to return the sunglasses to Costa Del Mar for warrant repair. However, when I did what he suggested, the repair facility manager Samantha refused to honor their warranty and insisted that the delamination was normal and not covered by their lifetime warranty. I found this explanation...Read more

Best Sunglasses Ever!,

This review is from: Costa Del Mar Fathom Polarized Sunglasses - Costa 400 Glass Lens (Eyewear)
I own several pairs of Costa Del Mar Sunglasses and I couldn't be happier with any of them. Each pair has its individual purpose.....at least that's how I justify buying multiple pairs (because I love them so much). I have owned Oakleys, Ray Bans, and Maui Jims in the past and Costas reign supreme. The Fathom Sunglasses with the Mirror Lenses are very comfortable on my face and perform exceptionally well in the harsh maritime environment where I work. While I do love the style of these glasses, I must admit that the Costas are not quite as "stylish" as the Maui Jims; however, when it comes to performance - especially on the water - Costa Del Mar is untouchable. The Blue Mirror Lenses do a phenomenal job at filtering the yellow light that kills a person's ability to see on/through the water. Also, glare from the sun is virtually eliminated with these sunglasses. I have read a number of negative reviews stating that these sunglasses fall apart fairly easily and that the warranty...Read more
