I've had the smaller Lunada for more than a year now and use it regularly as a "murse" while traveling. The Lunada has been comfortable and durable but is a little too small now that my wife has been adding things to what had been a perfect minimalist day pack. Given the need for a bigger size, the Malaga fit the bill perfectly.

It has lots of compartments perfect for keeping things organized and easy to access. The quality of materials and zippers are top notch. The workmanship is a tiny bit less perfect than my Lunada (from my perfectionist perspective). I'm also thinking that the Malaga will be the perfect size once I add a netbook to my traveling bag.

The only complaint that I can find is that the bag is not very water resistant with the many easy to use zippers. My solution has been to carry a water resistant stuff sack in case of rain (haven't had to use it yet though).

In the end, this is another typical Maxpedition product which leaves...Read more

I've had this pack for a couple of months and this pack is perfect for school or a small hike. I was able to fit my 13in mac book, three 1,1/2 inch text books and still have room for the computer charger, snacks.pens and glasses.

For CCW it is a tight fit once you load up on gear however its still accessible with a little man handling. The nice thing about the D ring is if you give it a good pull the weapon will even more accessible. This pack is rugged and tough and can take a beating.

I have had it roll onto rocks and a small stream and the 1000-Denier ballistic nylon still looks good. The water resistance will withhold against light showers but if its pouring it will only resist it till its soaked. I had it rain hard and my Malaga was soaked and I must say my polar fleece inside was still dry!

Love Maxpedition products, this bag rocks!!

Problem: I needed a small day pack / shoulder bag / utility bag to keep by me in my car even when the passenger seat is occupied.

Given the rather small available space my choices were limited. I though the optimal shape would be a vertical messenger bag.

Next, I wanted a well constructed bag. I have tired of the nice looking bags made from 1680 denier ballistic nylon. Time and time again I have found that bags made from this material fray and look shabby when used regularly in a very short time -- sometimes less than a year. Often bags made from 1680 aren't cheap either. The bags are not that easy to repair. Neither the local tailors not the local shoemakers would sew a seam that opened on a nice looking bag with plenty of compartments and pockets I bought. This limited the field immediately.

Also importantly is good ergonomics. I have found that shoulder bags are not good for my back after a certain amount of weight when carried after several blocks...Read more
