Summary: Best sun glasses I ever owned 2009-09-28
Comment: I bought my first pair of Ray Ban Aviators a few months ago and was immediately smitten. The syle is classic, if you don't look good in these then you will just never look good. More importantly Ray Bans, especially with the polarized lenses, are just quality eyewear. I am sure that other brands come in larger sizes but the oversize Ray Bans are the first sun glasses I've ever worn that really fit, and I feel as if I can see for miles with the polarized lenses. Money well spent.

Summary: Still the best Aviator design around 2009-07-09
Comment: I'm on my 2nd pair of Ray-Ban Aviators. I still have my first pair which I bought in 1990. They have the Drivers lenses, which unfortunately aren't made anymore. I dropped them a few times on pavement so now I have some small gouges in the lenses but I still wear them. Amazingly they didn't break even though they're glass. What I never liked about the old lenses was no anti-reflective coating (Bausch & Lomb, the original Ray-Ban maker, didn't coat them in 1990), so sometimes you'd see a reflection of your cheek on the inside of the glasses.

I bought a 2nd pair a few weeks ago, this time the polarized style (the 002/58 style, black frame/G15 polarized glass lens). B&L didn't make polarized lenses for the Aviators in 1990; I'm glad Luxottica now offers them in this frame. These fit just as well as my old pair, so Luxottica didn't change the frame design much at all. There are minor changes, namely the use of silicone nose pads. The lenses are fantastic though, they do a great job of cutting the glare and the inside of the lens is anti-reflective coated so reflections off your cheeks are just about gone.

If you want the true Aviator style, this is it. I've found no other brand that has copied the original Ray-Ban style, and to this day they are the only frame that just *fits*.

A few caveats about polarized lenses: any polarized lens could dim (or completely black out) an LCD display. Typically it's not an issue in the car since the polarizing filter in the LCD is canted off vertical axis. Another is when driving a car with tinted windows, you may see rainbow distortion, namely in other car windows and on the road surface. It's interference patterns in the tempered glass that the tinting + polarized filter exaggerate and will happen with ANY polarized filter coupled with tinted windows. I've gotten used to it but it is weird the first time you see it.

Summary: Very Disappointed 2009-06-29
Comment: I have bought these sunglasses for my son. After 2 months of use - nothing rough - the nose support broke. I Tried to contact the company's representative in my country but they refered me to the shop where I had purchased the sunglasses but told me that I will probably have to replace the whole frame and that this is not covered under guarantee. I wrote to the company in Italy - Luxottica - and never got a reply that took care of my problem. Evetually, I went to a shop that repairs these type of things a got it fixed somehow for $30 - so to summarize - poor quality product and ever worse customer service. I would have given it a rating of "ZERO" if it would have been possible.

Summary: Best Sunglasses in the world, but overpriced 2009-03-12
Comment: I bought my Ray-Ban P Aviators for $170 at Sunglasses Hut. They're the best sunglasses I've ever had. They're stylish... I've gotten compliments on the all the time and I've even met a girl that was literally turned on by me wearing them. But they were expensive... It brought a new fear to wearing them. I carry them in a case (to protect it while not being worn), surrounded by a cleaning clothe (to clean it without getting scratched), attached to my belt (so I don't accidentally forget them somewhere). And with all this care you'd expect them to be perfect, but the inside edges still get chipped just like every other pair of sunglasses in the world (but it took much longer in these).

Most people prefer buying the $20 ones from the mall, but they break easily and you'd have to replace them a few times (eventually that would end up costing the same as these). Plus, those are much lighter than these... You just feel cooler with these on.\

Bottom line: Worth the money if you make at least $200 a week anyways and you promise to take extremely good care of them.
